Thanks very much for weighing in. I guess it depends on the school. I didn’t take any college-level math (though I took a logic class that included some mathematics-related material), but I did take a two-semester World Civilizations class that included material on science and philosophy in Islamic, Chinese and Indian culture. I definitely knew that Islamic civilization was far more scientifically advanced than Europe in the early Middle Ages and a lot of scientific and medical knowledge came to Europe via contact with Muslim countries.
